Space Junk
Synopsis:
Space Junk is a four-piece electronic rock band hailing from Buffalo, NY. Since officially forming in 2011, the band has gained notoriety across New York. Their original material spans genres including funk, jazz, bluegrass, rock, progressive house, and drum & bass. The band is widely recognized for their unique ability to seamlessly segue from jam-rock to electro-DJ style fusion. Space Junk blends these styles in a live dance experience that makes every show one of a kind.
Bio:
Their unique sound mixes traditional rock structures with complex developmental jamming. Space Junk evolves house, rock, and jazz-influenced improvising as the force to separate them from your typical solo-based jam band. Each show is a unique musical journey – ensuring that no two shows are the same. Their loyal fan base ties this intelligent dance party together, and it is sure to keep your feet moving, your blood pumping, and your brain in a frenzy.
Unofficially formed in 2009 while attending college in Fredonia, Space Junk got its name and a new home in Buffalo, NY in 2011. Joining forces with Buffalo’s Frosty Tone DJ crew, Space Junk proved that a live band could hold their own with late-night DJs and MCs. Here they established their long-form improvisational development, reminiscent of their DJ influences in Trance, DnB, Dubstep, and House. Maintaining a presence among jam bands and DJs across New York, they continued to push the limits of their tension-filled peaks.
Space Junk has shared the stage with acts such as Popadosio, EOTO, Lotus, Dj Brownie, Aqueous, Dopapod, The Magic Beans, Particle, Dr. Fameus, Consider the Source, Kung Fu, Digital Tape Machine, Jimkata, The Heavy Pets, and many others. They were awarded Best Rhythm Section at the WNY Music Awards ceremony in 2013 and in 2016 Western New York News voted them #1 Electronic Band in WNY. Fueled by heavy delays, face-melting guitar solos, cutting-edge synthesizer tones, mind-bending electro-funk jams, and an ambidextrous drummer/DJ/keyboardist, these analog musicians transform into one digital beast.
